View PostThis week, students have been learning about Day of the Dead traditions. Some year 7 & 8 students created a replica of a traditional Mexican Ofrenda (a shrine) that is a custom during the celebration. These Ofrendas are seen in Mexican houses and are a way of remembering family members and ancestors who have passed away. Students created paper candles and flowers to decorate the ofrenda and we dedicated it to Spanish speaking celebrities from the past. All student lessons in Spanish this week will have the festival as a focus, and there are lots of activities and competitions around the school to get involved in during social times. On Tuesday lunchtime, come up to MFL and create an Ofrenda! The cinema club will play Coco this week. There are also lots of prizes to be won for the winning participants.
